Breast cancer awareness
FARMINGTON — As part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Healthy Community Coalition is offering five breast cancer awareness events throughout Franklin County through the generosity of funding from the Avon Breast Health Outreach Program.
In conjunction with area providers and the Martha B. Webber Breast Center staff, HCC staff will promote breast cancer awareness through education and resources, clinical breast exams, and assistance in scheduling mammograms and obtaining financial coverage of services. Additional services being offered include flu shots, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, and nutrition, physical activity and tobacco education. Gifts are being offered for those who attend.
Events are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Rangeley IGA; from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at Farmington Save-a-Lot; from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Edmunds Market; and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Eustis Town Office.

Free community luncheon Oct. 12
FARMINGTON — Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at 227 Main St.
The menu consists of New England boiled dinner with corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, onions and pumpkin cookies.

Emmanuel plans free lunch Oct. 12
LIVERMORE FALLS — Emmanuel Assembly of God will hold a free Community Lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the American Legion Hall, 17 Reynolds Ave.
All ages are welcome. For transportation, call 491-3708.
The lunches are held on the second Saturday of each month.
Historical group annual meeting
CARTHAGE — On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Carthage Historical Society will hold its annual meeting at the museum. There will be a 5:30 potluck supper with the meeting to follow.
All members are urged to attend as this is the annual meeting.
Mt. Blue Area Garden Club
FARMINGTON — Members of the Mt. Blue Area Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct, 15, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, on the Farmington Falls Road, for refreshments and a social half hour, which will be followed by Tom Saviello speaking on how various soil compositions affect water penetration.
His talk is titled, “Soil Water… a Cocktail for Plants.” The monthly meeting will follow Saviello’s presentation.
Hostesses will be Barbara White, Judy Loeven and Louise Marcous. Anyone interested in gardening is invited. For more information call 645-2067.
Ladies/Community Breakfast
OQUOSSOC — The next Ladies/Community Breakfast will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Four Seasons Cafe on Main Street.

CHESTERVILLE — The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in the Chesterville Town Office.
