Free workshop on college planning

WILTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults ages 19 and up at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Wilton Career Center, 865 U.S. Route 2E.

The starting point for all MEOC participants is this free interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning and study skills.

The workshop lasts approximately two to three hours. Pre-registration is required.

Rangeley church turkey supper

RANGELEY — On Saturday, Oct. 12, the Rangeley Congregational Church Mission Board will again offer their public turkey supper at The Barn on High Street.

Serving will be from 5 p.m. until sold out. The menu will include roast turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, homemade rolls, cranberry sauce, and homemade apple crisp with whipped cream for dessert.

The sit-down dinner is served home style. Take out will be available. Call for reserved take-outs at 864-5360 or leave a message at 864-5966. All proceeds will be used for the church’s mission work locally, nationwide and worldwide. The price will be $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

Tennis Scrambles is Oct. 12

WILTON — Players are wanted for the Gail Saviello Memorial Tennis Scrambles which will be held from 9 a.m. to mid-afternoon Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Academy Hill School tennis courts. Rain date is Oct. 13 at 11 a.m.

Individuals will sign up the same day as the tournament, just show up at the courts. Each player will have different doubles partners during the day.

This is a fund-raiser to help maintain the clay courts and for programs at the Wilton Free Public Library. Donation is $15 adults, $5 for students 18 and under. Snacks and lunch for players will be provided by the Tyngtown Club of Wilton which sponsors this event.

Vendors sought for arts, crafts show

FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington’s annual Arts and Crafts Show is seeking artists and crafters from across Maine interested in exhibiting their original and creative work at this open-to-the-public show. This year’s event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the UMF Olsen Student Center on South Street.

The show serves as a rich opportunity for vendors to sell their handcrafted, one-of-a-kind art and gift items, clothing, hand-sewn crafts, holiday items and much more. Children’s Theater registrations

TURNER — Children’s Theater of Turner is open for registrations.

Elementary age children are invited to explore theatrical performing through theater games, improvisation and storytelling.

There will be two sessions. One is for grades K-3 and the other is for grades 4-6. Each session will end with a wonderful performance at the Leavitt Area High School Auditorium.

The five-week program for grades K-3 will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Nov. 4 through Dec. 16. The cost is $40 with a $5 lab fee.

A six-week program for grades 4 to 6 will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 6 through Dec. 18. The cost is $50 with a $5 lab fee.
