1930 – 2013
LEWISTON — Beatrice Bouffard, 83, of Lewiston, joined Waylon, Hank and George Jones in the big rodeo in the sky. She fell ill on Monday, Sept. 23, and died at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Monday, Sept. 30.
She was born in Poland on Sept. 1, 1930, the daughter of Donald Trafford and Edith (McCleary) Trafford. Bea attended the Empire School in Poland and graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn in the Class of 1948.
Bea worked as a bookkeeper at Ward Brothers, a high-end women’s clothing store on Lisbon Street in Lewiston, from high school until the stored closed in the ’80s. She also worked for Hood’s Mailing and baked pies and desserts for Riccardo’s Restaurant in Litchfield.
She married James William Bouffard on May 30, 1959, at St. Joseph’s Church.
“Mrs. B” was loved by many, who will miss her support and friendship. She enjoyed giving advice, gardening, cooking, sale-shopping, berry-picking, hosting parties, feeding wild critters on her porch and finding ways to be helpful. She was fondly known as “Grammy B” by her grandchildren.
Bea is survived by Nancy Lewis (Daniel) of Vermont, Billy Bouffard of Westbrook and Terry Scalia (Rick) of Monmouth. She is also survived by her sister, Lois Oberg of Two Harbors, Minn., and Marcia Cavers (Jimmy) of Poland; brother, Joe Trafford of New Gloucester; half-sisters, Sandy Newton of Tempe, Ariz., and Patty Jacobson (Bill) of Kelsey, Minn.; grandchildren, Jessica Lafond, Shelley, Aaron and Melinda Scalia, Alicia Chambers, Sam Sam Scalia and Jake Ledue; great-grandchildren, Braylon LaFond and Carmine and Amelia Scalia; and the extended Trafford family.
Bea was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and sister, Faye Watson.
The Bouffard family especially appreciates the lifetime of support from Bea’s extended Stetson Road family.
