AUGUSTA (AP) — Sixty companies have made the cut for an annual list of the best places to work in Maine.

Now in its eighth year, the Best Places to Work program recognizes businesses with outstanding workplace environments. It’s sponsored by the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resources Management, the Maine Department of Labor, the Department of Economic and Community Development, Best Companies Group, Maine HR Convention, Maine State Chamber of Commerce and Mainebiz magazine.

The businesses run the gamut from banks, car dealers and software companies to law firms, construction companies and a brewery. Some of the better-known names include Cianbro, Bangor Savings Bank, L.L. Bean and Unum.

The companies will find out how they rank in their respective categories at an awards banquet on Oct. 10 in Portland.
