SKOWHEGAN — The Skowhegan Police Chief is warning the public to keep their vehicles locked in the wake of a pickup truck being stolen in town on Thursday.
Chief Ted Blais said Friday the theft of a 2004 Black GMC Sierra pickup was reported at 5:16 a.m. The truck was unlocked and the keys left in the vehicle.
“If people would take their keys out and lock the door, we’d have a lot less of these calls,” Blais said.
Blais said the victims were asleep at the time of the theft and weren’t able to get a description of the suspect or suspects.
The police chief added that his department has fielded 44 vehicle break-ins since the beginning of June. None of those included stolen vehicles.
Anyone who has seen the stolen pickup is advised to call Skowhegan police at 474-6386.
