Running deer and trap shoot
OXFORD — Lake Thompson Fish & Game will have a running deer and trap shoot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the club house on Paine Road. All are welcome.
Pickwick Club to host Nayder
AUBURN — The Pickwick Club, Maine’s Dickens reading group, will feature Bates’ English Dept. Chairman Lillian Nayder, speaking on her book “The Other Dickens.” Q and A to follow.

Community supper Oct. 5
SUMNER — The First Saturday Community Supper at the Congregational Church of East Sumner will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, with a Game and Garden menu.
Donations are requested for the meal.

Socrates Café gathering
WATERFORD — A Socrates Café gathering will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at the Waterford Library.
Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month. The group offers a forum to discuss current topics and ideas in a warm, friendly atmosphere, where divergent views will be welcome. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
The topic for the October meeting will be, “Is the USA Still No. 1? How and Why Does It Matter?” The moderator will be Sally Chappell.

Stone-Smart craft fair Oct. 12
NORWAY — Stone-Smart Unit 82 will hold a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the American Legion Hall, 212 Main St.
Along with crafts, there will be a bake sale, white elephant table and a special “Dining Out” raffle.
