SUMNER — Pastor Howard MacMullen has announced that Pastor Leon Dorleans, the field director for Haiti Outreach Ministries in Haiti, will be a guest at the Congregational Church of East Sumner, 50 Main St. (Route 219), on Sunday, Sept. 29.

He will be preaching and sharing news of the ministry in Haiti. Worship is at 9 a.m. The morning worship service will include a presentation by the Sunday School and the choir will sing “Just a little talk with Jesus.”

Worship will be followed with a social hour of refreshments and a chance to talk with Pastor Dorleans.

The church supports the Haiti Outreach Ministries as well as one of the Haitian children who attends the school.

The following text is from a Haiti Outreach Ministries brochure:

Leon Dorleans is from and currently lives in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Answering the call from God as a young man to lead his people to Jesus, Leon came to the U.S. and received training at Ozark Christian College and Cincinnati Christian University. Through friendships formed while in the U.S., Haiti Outreach Ministries began simply out of Leon’s desire to build a small church structure.

That very first church in Cite Soleil has grown to include churches, schools and clinics in four communities: Cite Soleil, Blanchard, Ibo Beach and Repatriote.

Leon now serves as HOM field director, overseeing operations in Haiti. He has a passion for preaching, teaching and equipping leaders to further God’s kingdom. Leon’s wife, Jacky, is the HOM school superintendent, which currently includes more than 1,400 students in four schools.

The public can support HOM’s work through prayer, financial giving, through child sponsorship or by joining a short-term missions team.
