UNITY (AP) — A popular Maine fair devoted to organic farming and rural living is kicking off in Unity.

The Common Ground Fair runs from Friday through Sunday.

The fair is sponsored by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association and is a back-to-the-earth version of state agricultural fairs. It draws thousands of people from Maine and neighboring states.

Events and demonstrations include things like goat milking, basket-making, composting and recycling, renewable energy and country cooking.
