SABATTUS — The day before his contract was set to expire, selectmen unanimously voted to keep Town Manager Andrew Gilmore on board three more years with a $100 raise.

Gilmore, 42, from Yarmouth, was hired two years ago as only the town’s second full-time town manager.

His annual salary the first year was $70,000 and increased to $74,900 the second year. Selectmen agreed Tuesday night to increase that to $75,000 this next year. That will go up each year after with a merit raise of at least 3 percent.

The board also raised the professional development budget from $2,500 to $5,000.

“I’m thrilled,” said Gilmore. “I said two years ago when I was under contract that I fell in love with the community, and that has not changed.”

The town has taken steps to lay a good foundation, he said. He sees business retention, growth and attraction being priorities to expand the tax base over the next three years.
