GRAY — Two men were arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing beer and threatening a store clerk.

Christopher C. Chambers, 27, a transient from Portland, walked out of the Circle K Convenience Store around 10 p.m. without paying for the beer in his possession, according to a statement from the Cumberland County Sheriff Department.

While confronting Chambers outside the store, the clerk was threatened by Chambers and Nicholas E. Norton, 25,  of Gray with physical violence, said the sheriff’s department.

The two men were arrested without incident a short while later in Gray after leaving the scene in a vehicle, the sheriff’s department said.

No weapons were displayed, and no victims and witnesses were harmed or injured, officials said.
