1942 – 2013
BERWICK — Ray F. Hodsdon, 71, of Berwick, died early Tuesday morning, Sept. 10, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Roxbury on July 2, 1942, a son of Philo and Alice (Taylor) Hodsdon. He was raised in Frye and was a 1960 graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford. After graduation, he enrolled in the machinist apprentice program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, beginning a 35-year career as a machinist and design engineer. During this time, he met his wife of 47 years, Elaine Kimball. Early in his career, he enlisted and served in the Army Reserve.
He was a longtime member of the Lions Club and in his spare time enjoyed antique cars, fishing, woodworking and camping.
Survivors include his son, Andrew and wife, Tamara Hodsdon, of Berwick; his grandchildren, Alexander and Jillian Hodsdon of Berwick; second wife, Nancy (Diamant) Kimball of Berwick; a brother, Roscoe and wife, Lorrie Hodsdon, of Frye; sisters-in-law, Earlene Rosenberg of Bryant Pond and Karen Hodsdon of Frye; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Elaine Kimball Hodsdon in 2010; two brothers, Douglas Hodsdon in 2000, and Roy Hodsdon in 2006; and a brother-in-law, Robert Kimball in 2012.
