Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Sept. 9 were as follows: first, Mary Trafton and Luke Merry; second, Dick Allen and Richard Balian; third, Nancy Lindgren and Larry Fortier; fourth, Priscilla Rooth and Hazel Glazier; first in B, Priscilla Rooth and Hazel Glazier; second, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer.

Winners on Sept. 10 were: first, Kathy Burden and Mary Trafton; second, Fred Letourneau and David Lock; third, Jeanine Kivus and Patricia Quinn; fourth, Nancy Farmer and Mike True; first in B, Kathy Burden and Mary Trafton; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

Neighborly Seniors monthly meeting

PERU — The Neighborly Seniors will hold the monthly meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the old Peru School.

Sign-up sheets will be available for Fryeburg Fair on Oct. 1 and the Christmas Show at Indian Head Resort on Dec. 8. The $10 for the bus trip to the fair is due at this meeting.

The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month. Anyone 48 and older may join. Call Connie at 364-4189 for more information.

Program: Letters from Parson boys

PARIS — Members and friends of the Paris Cape Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, for their monthly meeting, which will be held at the society museum.

After a brief business meeting Jeffrey Parsons will present a program titled, “The Parsons Boys Go West; Letters Home to Norway and South Paris from Joel and Isaac Parsons 1828-1864.”

Jeff and Mary Parsons have discovered a number of old letters describing family life at home and in other places which they will share.

The program, which is open to the public, will be followed by refreshments.

Lions Club to host Texas Hold’em tourney

HARRISON — The Harrison Lions Club will hold a Texas Hold’em tournament from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the VFW Hall, 176 Waterford Road.

Entry fee is $55. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and space is limited to 100 players.

Refreshments will be available. Proceeds will be used for community services.

Legion is holding supper, dance

PARIS — A spaghetti and meatball supper and dance will take place Saturday, Sept. 21, at the American Legion Post 72, 12 Church St.

Supper will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. Cost is $8.

The dance, with music by the Jones Dance Band, will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $5.
