CORINTH — Police say a Maine man who entered his estranged wife’s home was choked to death after attacking another man with a box cutter.
Police say 37-year-old Christopher Darner of Corinth was killed about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at a Corinth home occupied by 22-year-old Miranda Darner. Authorities say the Darners were separated and that she had a protection order against her husband.
Officials said Monday that Christopher Darner stabbed 24-year-old Kirt Damon Jr. of Searsport after entering the house. That’s when another man, 21-year-old Zachary Joseph of Belfast, came to Damon’s aid and put Darner in a choke hold.
The medical examiner says Darner died of asphyxia due to compression of the neck. Damon’s recovering from stab wounds to his neck and abdomen.
No charges have been filed.
