LACC holding meeting Sept. 17
AUBURN — The Lake Auburn Community Center will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the Community Room at Androscoggin Bank, 683 Minot Ave. The public is welcomed.
The LACC property is a public access point near Lake Auburn at 115 North Auburn Road with parking, restroom and picnic area. It serves access to hundreds of acres of passive recreational trail use from sunrise to sunset daily, including the Whitman Spring Road Trail owned by the Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission.
Future public uses planned for the LACC will include beach sand volley ball, outdoor skating and group and corporate events up to 50 people. The historic “West Auburn Farm” barn is also under repair and restoration.

St. Anne Sodality meeting
LEWISTON — The Ladies of St. Anne Sodality of Holy Family will have their General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Parish Hall, 607 Sabattus St.
A dinner from Davinci’s Restaurant will be served. Tickets are $12 and are available by contacting any board members or Anita at 782-4516. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
There will be an installation of officers, counselors and new members.
Parenting kids of school age
AUBURN — A Nurturing Parenting Program for Parents of School?Age Children will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 19 to Oct. 24, at Fairview Elementary. The program is for adults only.
Parents and caregivers of school?age children are invited to participate in discussions that emphasize effective strategies to help families: Develop successful family communication and routines, practice valuable discipline strategies, increase school success and enjoy more family fun.

Annual lobster roll luncheon
LEWISTON — Calvary United Methodist Church will hold its annual lobster roll luncheon from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, at 59 Sabattus St.
Lunch includes a roll of chunky lobster, potato chips, sweet pickles, chocolate chip cookie and choice of beverage.
Cost is $10.
Lunches can be picked up or eaten at the church.
Other pickup locations are Auburn United Methodist Church from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Drapeau’s Costumes in Lisbon from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Computer class for beginners
AUBURN — Take a look at the front and back of your computer case and count the number of buttons, sockets and slots you see. If you are not sure what they are for, register for the Buttons, Sockets, and Slots workshop at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St.
Attendees may choose to come at 10 a.m. on Sept. 20 or Sept. 27. Space is limited.
This free program does require that attendees preregister by calling the library at 333-6640, ext. 4.
Ideal for computer beginners, this hour long workshop will help you find out what features you can expect to find on most desktop and laptop computers. Being familiar with the names of each and how they are commonly used will help you later on when you connect that new printer, mouse, digital camera or other device.
Von Trapp family singer to perform
AUBURN — The United Methodist Church of Auburn will bring to Auburn the soulful voice of Elisabeth Von Trapp, from the famous Von Trapp family of “The Sound of Music” fame.
Elisabeth will perform at the church at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20.
This is a free concert, open to the public, with limited seating on a first come first serve basis. There will be a free will offering to help cover expenses.
The church is at 439 Park Ave. Arrive early to guarantee a good seat.
Quilt show, bake sale fundraiser
DURHAM — The Durham Historical Society will hold the annual quilt show and bake sale to raise funds for the repair and restoration of the Old Town Hall – Union Church building. The show will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Old Town Hall – Union Church, Route 136.
