LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen in Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls have been invited to tour the Spruce Mountain High School in Jay at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Town officials will then sit down for a round table discussion with members of the RSU 73 school board, Livermore Falls Town Manager Kristal Flagg said Tuesday.

The three towns are members of the school district.

The school has undergone a $1.8 million upgrade since school ended in June. Some portions of the project are ongoing.

In a public works matter, foreman Bill Nichols told selectmen that they plan to go back to the businesses that submitted quotes for a new furnace at the highway garage to see if a more efficient furnace is available.

Only one of the five businesses submitted a quote for 95 percent energy efficient furnace and the rest were 80 percent efficient, he said.

Voters raised $18,000 for a new furnace in June for the garage. The existing one is more than 30 years old and in constant need of repair.

Flagg said last month that the quotes have different components and were confusing.

Nichols said he talked to a variety of people and wants to make sure the town gets the most efficient furnace.

In other business, selectmen agreed to hold their regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 16, and a public hearing on a proposed administrative budget article on Monday, Sept 23. A vote will be held at the polls on Nov. 5 at the Town Office. The vote will coincide with a state vote on bonds.
