Sabattus Rec Running Program
The Sabattus Rec Club Running Program held its second event on Thursday, Aug. 29. This was an Estimation Run 5k where participants had guessed their finish time before the event. The participants who finished closest to their estimate won. No watches or electronic devices were allowed in the event.
Congratulations to 11-year-old Maggie Ryder of Sabattus for her first-place finish, and to Dick Houle of Lewiston, who guessed the second-best finish time. Maggie was only three seconds off her prediction. She guessed 31 minutes, and crossed the finish line in 31:03. Veteran runner Houle, who has been running races for about 30 years, took second place, barely beating out Ethan Rac of Sabattus with a 31:48 time, which was 23 seconds off his estimate. Rac was also close, missing his mark by just 25 seconds.
