That the Lewiston police force is trying to do its duty is corroborated by its attempt, on a recent evening, to relieve a certain Lewiston woman of a package she was taking to the post office to send out of town. ‘Twas mysterious in shape, size and weight and madam seemed in very much of a hurry. In fact she appeared decidedly nervous and was more than anxious to get the package out of her hands. She evidently deposited her parcel, at the office, then went hurrying toward home, and shortly returned with a similar bundle. This time, the officers were indeed mistrustful, and when the similar thing over again, made an investigation. The investigation showed that the parcel post packages contained billiard supplies, which she was sending to the husband who was out of town, and she was anxious to get the packages into the mail that evening.

A proposal to establish a recreation center in Memorial Armory was received last night by the Lewiston Board of Finance. Before the board was Frederick Hall, Youth Commission chairman, who outlined the thinking of the commission and suggested that second-floor rooms on the Vale Street side of the armory would serve the purpose. With the proposed recreation center would be a full-time recreation program for the city’s youth. Adult programs later are likely if plans develop. Currently, Lewiston has only a 10-week summer program.
