Church bake sale, bottle drive

HEBRON — The Hebron Community Baptist Church will host a church sale/bake sale/bottle drive from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2.

The event is to raise money to purchase new visual media equipment for the church. Stop by to buy and BYOB (bring your own bottles — to donate).

The church is on Station Road, next door to the Hebron Academy.

Duplicate Bridge Club results

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Aug. 23, where an 8 table Mitchell movement was enjoyed.

Scholarship bottle drive

SUMNER — A Sumner Scholarship Fund Bottle Drive will take place Saturday, Sept. 7.

Volunteers will drive through Sumner between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to pick up redeemable bottles.

Socrates Café gathering

WATERFORD — A Socrates Café gathering will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Waterford Library. The group offers a forum to discuss current topics and ideas in a warm, friendly atmosphere, where divergent views will be welcome.

The topic for the September meeting will be “How Can our Culture Foster Small Business?” Ted Gerber will be the moderator.

Due to the Labor Day holiday the meeting in September is postponed from the regular practice of meeting on the first Monday of each month.
