AUGUSTA (AP) — A man who lived in the Maine woods for decades with barely any contact with the outside world has been indicted on more charges.

A Kennebec County grand jury on Thursday handed up six indictments against 47-year-old Christopher Knight; each charges one count of burglary and five have an additional theft count.

He had been indicted earlier this month on a burglary and theft charge in Somerset County.

Knight — known as the North Pond Hermit — was arrested in April after police say they caught him stealing food from a camp in Rome. Authorities have said he may be responsible for as many as 1,000 burglaries in the 27 years he lived alone in the woods.

Knight’s lawyer told the Morning Sentinel (http://bit.ly/14K94cb ) the indictment “changes little in the case.”
