TOWNSHIP 17-RANGE 4 — Two logging trucks collided on the Realty Road early Wednesday morning, sending one man to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to information released late Wednesday night by the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.

Toby Saucier, of Frenchville, was driving west in a 2007 Western Star logging truck and had just driven the truck over the one-lane bridge spanning the Big Machias River when the accident happened, Chief Deputy Sheriff Darrell Crandall said in the release.

A 2010 Western Star logging truck driven by Dylan Bois and traveling east approached the bridge at the same time and Bois’ truck hit Saucier’s truck just as Saucier exited the bridge.

Both trucks were carrying full loads of logs at the time of the accident.

Crandall said Bois’ truck then continued across the bridge, striking a guardrail and ending up in a ditch on the other side.

Bois was taken to The Aroostook Medical Center by ambulance, according to Crandall, with non-life threatening injuries.

Bois’ truck, owned by Northern Timber Trucking in Fort Kent, is considered a total loss. The trailer on Saucier’s truck sustained about $7,500 in damages and he was not injured.

The accident occurred on a private woods road, according to Crandall, but law enforcement was involved due to one of the drivers being injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
