DIXFIELD – The Dirigo High School Class of 2014 will kick off its final year of high school with a car show at 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1. Proceeds will go toward the Project Graduation next spring.
Registration for the car show will begin at 8 a.m. and cost $5, with an admission of $2 for residents who wish to visit.
Any cars residents wish to enter in the show will be parked on Harlow Field.
Residents will have the chance to vote on their favorites. Voting will end at noon, with awards being presented at 2 p.m.
Senior Caitlin Gallant said the show is the first fundraiser of the year.
“Right now, we have zero dollars toward Project Grad,” she said. “I hope there will be more events as it gets closer to the end of the year.”
Gallant said the idea for the car show stemmed from the Class of 2013.
“The class officers with the Class of 2013 did a car show for a couple of years, and they told us all about it and how it made them a good amount of money for Project Grad,” Gallant said. “We decided to do our own car show.”
The car show will also feature a number of different concessions, raffles and a 50/50, all of which will go to the Class of 2014.
