BETHEL — Discussion on awarding the roadside directional sign bid and a citizen’s request for a reduced speed limit are among the items the Board of Selectmen will discuss during their meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
The selectmen originally were scheduled to award the roadside directional sign bid to a company on July 15, but they voted to re-schedule after they were unable to find someone to award it to.
“The decision will be up to the selectmen,” Town Manager Jim Doar said Tuesday morning. “They will have to vote on whether to award it or not.”
At the annual town meeting in June, voters approved new standards for directional roadside signs to help motorists find businesses and services. Shortly after, Doar said that mid-September had been established as the goal for installation of new signs.
In other business, the board will respond to a citizen’s request to reduce the speed limit on Flat Road. Doar said that the town does not receive requests for reduced speed limits that often, and if the board decides to pursue the change, they will have to go through the Maine Department of Transportation.
The board will also hold public hearings to discuss the liquor license renewal of Mill Hill Inn and 22 Broad Street at Gideon Hastings, the entertainment permit renewal for the Mill Hill Inn and the Lodging and victualler license renewal for the Austins Holidae House.
