PORTLAND (AP) — The police department in Maine’s biggest city wants businesses to know how to deal with a gunman.
Portland Police Chief Michael Sauschuck is providing so-called “active shooter” training Tuesday to employees of Apothecary by Design with a goal of spreading the word about free resources available to local businesses that want to educate their employees about strategies for dealing with a gunman
Sauschuck said Portland is a safe city but everyone should know “the basic steps to take to protect themselves.”
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has developed a video and resource materials to use to make sure employees know the best practices for dealing with such a dangerous situation.
