AUGUSTA (AP) — It’s costing Maine residents less to fill their gas tanks.
Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reported Monday that the average retail cost of a gallon of gas in the state has fallen 2 cents to $3.68.
That’s still 11 cents per gallon above the national average.
Prices in Maine are now more than 15 cents lower than at the same time last year and almost a dime lower than a month ago.
A company analyst said he optimistic that prices will continue to decline as the summer driving season winds down.
Maine prices are based on a survey of more than 1,200 gas stations in the state.
