1930 – 2013
RUMFORD — Dr. Robert Saisi, 82, died Monday, Aug. 12, at his residence on Holyoke Avenue, Rumford.
He was born in Rumford on Sept. 29, 1930, son of the late Natale and Cleofe (Corti) Saisi.
Dr. Saisi, valedictorian of Stephens High School (Rumford) Class of 1948, earned a E.D.D. in education administration/supervision from Boston University and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Vienna (Austria), graduating both summa cum laude. He served as a teacher, principal and superintendent in Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts and was a college professor/college dean in Massachusetts. He also served as a consultant to industry, state/national government, NATO, U.N., several Catholic Dioceses and the Vatican.
Dr. Saisi, a veteran of the Korean War, served as a special agent with the U.S. Counter Intelligence Corps. He received a battlefield commission and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal and the South Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He was a member of the VFW Post 1523 in Putnam, Conn. and the American Legion Post 0111 in Woodstock, Conn.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce (Crosby); devoted son, Kevin; very loving granddaughter, Casey; and two sisters, Olga Buccina and Marie Boudreau.
He was predeceased by sisters, Flora Saisi Angiolillo and Tina Paterson; and a brother, Michael Saisi.
