DEBLOIS (AP) — Maine is offering a series of outreach events for migrant workers in the state during the blueberry harvest.

The events will begin Monday at 5 p.m. at Wyman’s labor camp at the C & D Compound in Deblois.

Workers will receive training on things like how to work safely in the heat. Spanish speaking investigators from the U.S. Department of Labor will also be there to discuss worker’s rights and issues like minimum wage. Investigators will also discuss regulations for things like water quality and labor camp conditions.

The programs will continue at Cherryfield Foods’ camp in Cherryfield on Tuesday and at Merrill’s Blueberries labor camp in Mariaville on Wednesday.
