FARMINGTON — The summer auction series conducted by the Farmington Historical Society, which began in July, continues at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the North Church.
Exterior painting and repair and window restoration is beginning to transform the appearance of the downtown landmark built in 1873. Once a hub of social activity, the building saw extensive use by the Western Maine Storytelling group when it was pressed into service for a number of performances.
Items to be auctioned include pieces from the society’s collection that are either duplicates, have been donated or consigned for sale. Proceeds will be used to continue renovations at the church.
The remaining summer auction will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. the second Thursday of September, Sept. 12, with public viewing beginning at 5 p.m.
A $2 donation at the door is requested and refreshments will be available for purchase. Auctioneer Adrian Harris will conduct the auctions and all sales are final.
Donations continue to be accepted for the August and September auctions and consignments are being accepted. For information and pickup, call 491-8635.
