LEWISTON — World renowned winemaker Joseph Carr was in town on June 12 for the fifth annual wine dinner at Fuel to benefit The American Heart Association. This year’s event consisted of five courses paired with Carr wines and sold out weeks ahead of time. The Three Point Trio played throughout the night and was sponsored by Center Street Dental.
“The event now has a reputation of being one of the best nights out in L/A and is becoming increasingly easier to sell-out well in advance. We can usually count on those who have been to the dinner before to be the first ones in line to make reservations for the following year,” said Adam Dunbar of Wells Fargo Advisors. Dunbar has been the event’s host and organizer for the past five years along with Cindie Rice of CMMC and other members of the AHA’s volunteer Executive Committee for the Central Maine Heartwalk.
This year’s event raised $8,744 for AHA through a portion of ticket sales and a silent auction which included dinner for six at the Top of The Hub in Boston with Joseph Carr and a week’s stay in a three-bedroom condo in Sanibel, Fla. Over the past five years the event has raised nearly $30,000 for AHA.
Joseph Carr’s father passed away of a heart attack unexpectedly at age 59 so the event is personal to him. He vowed to continue to come back as long as Eric Agren of Fuel will have him.
The Central Maine Heartwalk will be held Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Hilton Garden Inn on the Riverwalk. For more information and to get a team together for this year’s event contact Susan Crandall at susan.crandall@heart.org.
