LEWISTON — The Dick Lacourse Memorial Scholarship Fund recently awarded a $250 scholarship to Mt. Blue High School graduate Samantha Ann Mochamer and to Lewiston High School graduate Brianna Michele Lajoie.
Samantha is the daughter of Bruce and Denise Lajoie Mochamer of Farmington. Brianna is the daughter of John and Nicole Lajoie. Both are the granddaughters of Michel and Rita Lajoie of Lewiston.
Samantha has received an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Suffolk County Community College in New York, graduating with a 3.9 GPA, and is currently attending St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, N.Y., working towards a bachelor’s degree in business administration graduating in Dec. 2013. She is employed at Teacher Federal Credit Union in Bay Shore, N.Y., where she has worked part-time during her seven semesters on Long Island.
She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, an academic sorority, and has attained a spot on the dean’s list every semester.
Brianna was the recipient of awards and honors including KVAC All Academic Team, KVAC First Team and the Hobey Baker Award.
She participated in soccer for four years, girls ice hockey for four years, track for three years and lacrosse for one year. She was a member of the NHS, NTHS, L Club, Blue Crew and Skills USA. her volunteer work was with the Kora Shrine Circus, Rotary Club and Christmas Tree Swap.
In the fall, she will attend Central Maine Community College for general studies for two years playing soccer and lacrosse. She will then transfer to a university to continue her studies in athletic training and work toward her doctorate in chiropractic medicine.
