LEWISTON — Advance tickets are now on sale for Museum L-A’s second annual Lewiston-Auburn Mini Maker Faire set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 28.

This year’s Faire promises to be even bigger than the inaugural event, which drew more than 750 people of all ages to Museum L-A in the Bates Mill.

“We’re looking to increase the number of exhibitors this year,” said Kate Griffith, event producer. “We’ll have a great mix of ‘Makers’ again with hands-on activities for all ages.”

Ticket prices are the same as last year: ages 12 and under are free; ages 13-17 are $5 in advance and at the door, and ages 18 and over are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

“This is a great event with something for everyone and free admission for kids makes it affordable for families to attend,” Griffith said. Order tickets online at makerfairelewistonauburn.com.

Maker Faire celebrates arts, crafts, engineering, food, green design, music, science and technology and brings together communities who embrace the do-it-yourself spirit. It’s a gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students and commercial exhibitors to show what they’ve done and share what they’ve learned.

From how-to workshops to spectacular attractions including The EepyBird Coke Zero & Mentos Spectacular, amazing inventions are always just around the corner.

“There’s a creative — almost magical — energy at a Maker Faire that inspires discovery and innovation.” Griffith continues. “It’s definitely an experience not to be missed.” The list of this year’s “Makers” will be announced in early August.

The Lewiston-Auburn Mini Maker Faire takes after its parent event, Maker Faire, which hosts 90,000 visitors in San Mateo in May. The Lewiston-Auburn Mini Maker Faire is a smaller, community-focused event, but follows the Maker Faire model of celebrating do-it-yourself creativity and tinkering.
