First darkness and now rain have interrupted Zone III in its attempts to crown a champion.

Tuesday’s rain forced postponement of the suspended American Legion zone championship game between Pastime Club and Windham. The teams will try again at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Windham High School.

The game was suspended due to darkness on Monday night with the teams tied at 11-11 headed into the 11th inning. The winner advances to the state legion tournament in Augusta one week from Wednesday. The loser will face Zone II runner-up Madison on Saturday in a play-in game to get into the state tournament.

Pastime Club is trying to win its third consecutive zone championship. Windham, the zone regular-season champions, is vying for its first.
