AUBURN — The 2013 Donald Gay Scholarship, funded by the Edward Little Class of 2013 in honor of the school’s music director from 1944-1959, was awarded to Amanda Nadeau during Class Night ceremonies.

E.L. band director William E. Buzza praised Nadeau’s leadership and talent through her involvement in many of the school’s musical groups including the concert, pep and marching bands as well as the drum line, chamber line and show choir. As a senior, she also served as drum major for the marching band. Nadeau was selected through audition for the Maine Music Educators Association and chorus twice each and the Maine All-State chorus twice.

Nadeau wants to be a music therapist, saying “I want to help people improve their lives through using what I love most, music. If I can do that with my life, I will consider myself successful.”

Nadeau will be attending Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass., in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree.

The 2013 Donald Gay Scholarship award is the 14th since its creation in 2001 by the E.L. Class of 1951. During that time a total of $53,000 has been awarded to Edward Little seniors who have made outstanding contributions to the school’s arts programs..
