PORTLAND — The following University of Southern Maine students were awarded scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year.

Catherine Marie Prendergast of Bowdoin, a nursing student, was awarded the Boyne Foundation Nursing Scholarship. She is a 2009 graduate of Morse High School and is engaged to be married to Justin Cressey of Bowdoin. She is the daughter of Norma Ramsay of Lewiston and Edward Prendergast of Bangor.

Michelle Alyse Nadeau of Lewiston, a nursing student, was awarded the Women’s Board of the Maine General Hospital Nursing Scholarship. She is a 2010 graduate of Royal Academy in Gray and is the daughter of Peter and Janice Nadeau of Lewiston.

Zamzam Mohamed of Lewiston, a nursing student, was awarded the Mabel G. Skillin Nursing Scholarship. A native of Somalia, she is a 1999 graduate of a Kenyan high school and a 2009 graduate of Central Maine Community College with an associate degree in liberal studies. She is the daughter of Halima Ahmed, also of Lewiston.

Caitlyn Maureen O’Connell of Lewiston, a nursing student, was awarded the Mabel G. Skillin Nursing Scholarship. She is a 2009 graduate of Mountain Valley High School in Rumford and is the daughter of Greg O’Connell of Lewiston and Linda and Peter LaPlante of Rumford.

Taylor-Paige Harrison of Poland, a nursing student, was awarded the Boyne Foundation Nursing Scholarship. She is a 1998 graduate of Babylon Junior-Senior High School in Babylon, N.Y. and is the daughter of Deborah Moran of Greene and the late Victor Harrison.
