FARMINGTON — A Wilton man pleaded guilty Friday to discharging a handgun Jan. 1 inside a mobile home in Wilton and violating bail conditions in June when he got into an argument with the victim at a Jay shopping plaza.
Timothy Koehler, 31, was sentenced to 28 days in jail on the charge of felony violating condition of release and entered into a two-year deferred sentencing for the domestic violence reckless conduct charge.
Testimony would have shown that he got into an argument with the victim and had a handgun and threatened to kill himself, Assistant District Attorney Joshua Robbins said.
It would also show that he fired a .25-caliber handgun into the wall and the victim felt threatened by it, he said. Police would testify they found the bullet holes and bullet lodged in a wall, he said. The bullet went through two walls and lodged in a third, according to Wilton police.
When Wilton police arrived at Arkay Trailer Park, Koehler repeatedly asked to be arrested, and the victim inside the trailer was hysterical, Robbins said.
Koehler was given credit for time served in regards to the violation charge and would be released from jail custody.
Judge Susan Oram, sitting in designation of a Superior Court justice, accepted the proposed two-year deferred sentencing agreement. There would be no finding of guilt Friday, she said.
She told Koehler he was undertaking a lot of hard work outlined in the agreement over the next two years. He will return to court on July 17, 2015.
He also forfeited the handgun in the case.
