Taylor succeeds Keith Smith of Andover who chose not to seek another term on the board.

The board plans to act on new contracts for members of the Telstar Education Association. Action on 10 individual contracts for nonunion employees was delayed until the Aug. 12 meeting for more information.
The most recent three-year contract for the education association expired at the end of June.
In other matters, Ted Davis and Karen Bean updated the board on activities middle and high school students were involved in during the past year under the MELMAC grant that encourages students to visit college campuses. They said a high school mentoring program has also been established and SAT preparatory classes have been modified.
