WEST SUMNER — Preparations are underway for the beginning of the Summer Church Season at the West Sumner Universalist Society, Route 219, Main Street.
The first service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 7, with Marilyn Hammond giving communion, followed by a coffee hour.
There will be a christening service at 11 a.m. on Aug. 11.
The annual Whatever Sale to benefit the church will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 24. Anyone wishing to cook their favorite recipe would be welcomed. To reserve a craft table for $10, call Pauline Kirschner at 388-2020.
Founded more than 100 years ago, the church has a long, proud history of both a religious institution and also a meeting and gathering place for reunions, birthday and anniversary celebrations.
The Church Restoration Committee is a fund-raising arm of the church. They are accepting donations to assist in maintaining the church. The long overdue painting of the interior has been completed. Stop by to see the transformation.
The agenda for the summer includes: July 7, Marilyn Hammond;July 14, Rev. Kwan Lee; July 21, Bernice Martin; July 28, Dr. Robert Sallies; Aug. 4, Rev. Fayre Stephenson; Aug. 11, Rev. Scott Jones; Aug. 18, Rodney Abbott; and Aug. 25, Silver Moore Leeman. Beth Chaffee will be the organist.
