RUMFORD — Law enforcement officers will be pumping gas for customers at Irving/Circle K stores across Maine on July 27 for Special Olympics Maine.
The Fueling for Dreams fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by officers with the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, Rumford police Sgt Douglas Maifeld stated Friday in a news report.
Maifeld is also a member of the Special Olympics Maine Torch Run Executive Board.
Any tips the officers receive, plus 5 cents per gallon goes to Special Olympics Maine, Maifeld said. The stores are also selling decals/clings for $1 each. All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Maine.
“This is one of the Law Enforcement Torch Run’s biggest fundraisers,” Maifeld said.
In the past, Maifeld said River Valley area officers have had to pump gas at the Bethel Irving store, but now there are Circle K stores in Rumford and Mexico.
“Tell your friends and family members if they need gas to please try and do it during this time frame to help Special Olympics,” Maifeld said.
