DURHAM — A Brunswick woman was hurt when she lost control of her car while trying to avoid hitting a deer on Quaker Meetinghouse Road on Friday night.

Sharon Ward, 58, of Lunt Road complained of head pain and was taken by Durham Fire and Rescue to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Samson said.

Ward was driving east near the Old Brunswick Road intersection at about 9:30 p.m. when she swerved her car to miss a deer. Her 1987 Chevrolet Camaro went off the road and hit a utility pole head-on, Samson said. The car was demolished.
