BATH — Local S6 of the Machinists’ Union, representing 3000 production and maintenance workers at Bath Iron Works, recently awarded the following recipients $1000 scholarships for 2013.

Dan Dowling, president of Local S6, stated, “Our members believe education to be an essential ingredient for improving our lives and the lives of our families. We are pleased to commemorate the loyal services of Sue McCool and Dorothy Shorette by recognizing the achievements of these young scholars and providing them assistance in reaching their goals.”

Sue McCool Memorial Scholarship: Daniel Burke, son of Brother Frank Burke, E02, Freeport.

Dorothy Shorette Scholarship: Taylor Pare, daughter of Brother Mark Pare, P10, Bowdoinham.

Local S6 Scholarships: Paxton Arsenault, daughter of Brother Michael Arsenault, M10, Mechanic Falls; Katelyn Beedy, daughter of Brother Scott Beedy, E02, Harpswell; Shaylee Sibley, daughter of Brother Jay Sibley, T04, Edgecomb.
