Take-A-Chance auction June 7
FRYEBURG — Maine and Northern New Hampshire Jr. Hereford members will hold a Take-A-Chance auction Friday, June 7, at the Agricultural Center, Fryeburg Fairgrounds.
Auction viewing takes place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Drawings start at 7.
Sheets of 25 tickets cost $5. There will be a dollar table, 50/50 raffle and a food booth.
Members are from Fryeburg and Wolfeboro, N.H.
Proceeds will go to the Hereford Junior National Show in Kansas City, Mo., held July 13-22. Members will participate in events such as showmanship, illustrated speeches, team fitting, team marketing and type shows.

Norway Library summer reading
NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library’s 2013 summer reading program kick-off will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the Guy E. Rowe School Cafetorium.
Participants will be able to register for the program, pick up a reading record sheet, get a voucher for a free ticket to a Sea Dogs game, plant a seed and take it home to watch it grow.
Free activities for school age children will be held on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Themes include gardening, trucks, mining, the Ice Age, coyotes, geography and archeology.
Registration is required for all programs. These are drop-off programs for children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade. To register stop by the Children’s Department at 258 Main St. or call 743-5309, ext. 4, after June 18. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
Pickwick Club reads ‘Curiosity’
AUBURN — The Pickwick Club, Maine’s Dickens discussion group, will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 22, at the Auburn Library. The book to be discussed is “The Old Curiosity Shop,” chapters 1 to 36.

Cryptogram contest winner
PARIS — Cassandra McAlister is the $5 winner of Paris Public Library’s May Cryptogram Contest.
June’s cryptograms are ready to pick up at the library’s front desk. This month’s focus is quotes. June’s completed cryptograms need to be in on or before June 29 for the $5 drawing.
Kiwanis outdoor flea market
NORWAY — Norway Paris Kiwanis Club will host its outdoor flea market undercover garage sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 13, and from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday, July 14, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, 256 Main St.
The event will run in conjunction with Rotary’s auction and ticket sales and also the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast. Also joining on Sunday at the pancake breakfast will be the Uptown Cruizahs.
Limited spaces are available so reserve early. Set up will begin July 13 at 9 a.m. Spaces will be reserved on a first paid basis. Space for rent with table and chairs $20.
