AUBURN — Two honor students at Central Maine Community College, Michael Cloutier and Jennifer Woodard, were named to the Maine Community College System All-Maine Academic Team. They were among 14 students honored this spring at a ceremony in Augusta hosted by the MCCS Board of Trustees. Each recipient will receive a $500 scholarship.

The All-Maine Academic Team is part of the national Phi Theta Kappa program, an international honor society for two-year colleges. Students are nominated and selected for the team by their college based on outstanding academic achievement, leadership and service.

Michael Cloutier of Auburn, a human services major, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and a recipient of the Annette Brown and TRiO scholarships. He is one of only 50 students nationwide named a Coca-Cola All-State Community College Bronze Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Cloutier hopes to continue his education and pursue a career as a substance abuse counselor.

Jennifer Woodard, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, is a Phi Theta Kappa member and a Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise scholarship recipient. An early childhood education major, Woodard plans to continue her education to become an elementary school teacher. She lives in Turner with her family.
