PARIS — Maine Veterans’ Home has announced plans for the annual Memorial Day service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the facility, 477 High St. The ceremony is the joint effort of the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee (WMVAC) and the Maine Veterans’ Home.
A welcome address will be given by Joel Dutton, administrator of the facility. A flag-raising ceremony will be presented by members of the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee. To memorialize Gold Star Mothers, a flower will be placed on the monument at the facility by resident and retired Marine, Lee McGall. Invocation will be presented by Larry Austin, MVH chaplain and staff member.
Music will be provided for the ceremony and the Gettysburg Address will be read. Guest speaker for the service will be Kathrynne A. Gerrish, oratorical contestant from the VFW in Rumford.
