Weary Club to meet May 18

NORWAY — The Weary Club will meet for coffee from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at 385 Main St.

Spaghetti dinner, silent auction

PARIS — A spaghetti dinner and silent auction will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Paris Fire Station, 137 Western Ave.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

Auction items include desserts, gift baskets, gift certificates and more.

Proceeds will benefit the family of Roberto and Chelsey Gonzalez. Roberto was diagnosed in February with pancreatic cancer.

Hymn sing set for May 18 in Stow

STOW — An old fashioned hymn sing will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Baptist Church.

The new organ will be dedicated. Ben Conant will play the piano. David Loyd will play the organ.

Historical Society meeting, potluck

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society will have their first meeting of the year Monday, May 20.

A potluck dinner will take place at 6 p.m. followed by a short business meeting.

Guest speaker Connie Benwitz of Minot will speak on local connections to the Underground Railroad and will explain how quilts were used as signals to the movement.

WEST PARIS — The Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St. The pantry is open the first and third Tuesday of each month. West Paris residents are invited to come once a month.

Spurrs Corner food pantry hours

OTISFIELD — The food pantry at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121, will be open Tuesday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to noon.

SeniorsPlus plans focus group

NORWAY — SeniorsPlus will host a focus group in Oxford County from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Second Congregational Church of Norway, to talk about aging services in rural Maine. This is one of two focus groups the agency plans to hold in order to assess the needs of older adults in the rural areas of Oxford and Franklin counties.

“We are looking for adults between the ages of 55 and 70 to join a conversation about aging services, specifically issues around accessing services in rural Maine,” said Connie Jones, director of Community Services for SeniorsPlus.

Residents of Oxford County who are interested in joining this conversation are asked to call SeniorsPlus at 1-800-427-1241 to sign up for the Oxford County Focus Group. As a thank you for participants’ time $25 gas or groceries gift certificates will be given.
