Cub Scout pack being formed
OXFORD — The Anderson Staples American Legion in conjunction with Boy Scout Troop 196 are announcing the formation of a Cub Scout pack to be located at the legion.
Cub Scout coordinator Tom Leeman, also a Boy Scout Troop leader, announced the first steps in forming a new Cub Scout pack in Oxford and Otisfield.
Boys ages 6 to 10 learn basic safety and survival skills, enjoy activities including camping and fishing and help with community service programs.

PARIS — The Floyd A. Harlow Jr. VFW Post 9787 will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the VFW Hall, 58 East Main St.
College planning workshop set
WILTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults ages 19 and up at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Wilton Career Center, 865 U.S. Route 2E.
The starting point for all MEOC participants is this free interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning and study skills.
The workshop lasts approximately two to three hours. Pre-registration is required.
All MEOC services are free and include GED/SAT preparation, college planning, referrals/advocacy, career advising, financial aid advising, college admissions process and application fee waivers for qualified adults.

American Legion bingo Saturdays
KINGFIELD — American Legion Post 61 will hold bingo every Saturday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games begin at 6:30.
Rowe School 5K run/walk
NORWAY — The Guy E. Rowe School PTO will hold a 5K run at 9 a.m. and kids fun run/walk at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at the school, 219 Main St.

Same day registration is $25 and starts at 7:30 a.m.
T-shirts are available for $10.
Registration for the kids run/walk starts at 7:30 . There is no charge for children 12 and under. All children receive a participation prize.

Community breakfast
KINGFIELD — A community all-you-can-eat breakfast will be offered from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Kingfield United Methodist Church on High Street.
The menu will include homemade sausage gravy with biscuits, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, home-fries, muffins, coffee and juice. The cost is $5 per person. A discounted rate is available for children.

Lion Club Texas hold’em
HARRISON — Harrison Lions Club will hold a Texas hold’em tournament from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the VFW Hall, 176 Waterford Road.
Space is limited to 100 players. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
Entry fee is $55. Proceeds will be used for community services.
OHCA spaghetti dinner May 4
OXFORD — Oxford Hills Christian Academy student council will hold a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Oxford Congregational Church, 252 King St.
The first sitting is at 5 p.m.; second sitting at 5:45 p.m.
The meal includes garlic bread, tossed salad, dessert and beverage.
Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for ages 4-12, free for under 4.
Jones Dance Band at Legion hall
PARIS — A dance with music by the Jones Dance Band will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 18 and 25, at the American Legion Hall, 12 Church St.
The cost is $5.
There will be no dance May 4.
Dance May 4 at Snowshoe Club
RUMFORD — A dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Snowshoe Club.
Music provided by Noel Palmer and Don Levesque.
Members and guest welcome. The club is a non-smoking facility.
Mahoosuc band spring concert
BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Community Band will play its spring concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at West Parish Congregational Church.
Patricia Boyle-Wight directs the community band.
Donations will be accepted to help defray costs of music purchases. Refreshments will follow concert.
