LITCHFIELD — A third bomb scare in a week emptied another school in RSU 4 on Thursday afternoon.

The words, “Bomb, bomb, bomb, die,” were found written in the boys’ bathroom at Carrie Ricker School a little after 2:30 p.m., Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said.

The school for grades three to five was evacuated and students walked to the nearby Libby-Tozier School to be picked and bused home for the day.

“It’s pretty frustrating,” Hodgkin said. “It’s very unnerving. I feel bad for the kids, and the parents, and the teachers. It’s very disruptive and senseless.”

The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department responded. Classes were expected to resume as normal on Friday.

On Monday, a bomb threat left in a girls’ bathroom cleared Oak Hill Middle School. On Tuesday, a bomb threat in a girls’ bathroom cleared Oak Hill High School.

Police have charged a 14-year-old girl in the middle school hoax after reviewing surveillance-camera footage that showed people entering and exiting that bathroom.

Hodgkin said Carrie Ricker doesn’t have cameras outside its bathrooms.
