FairPoint Communications announced that it plans to eliminate about 90 positions in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

The cuts are planned during the next several months and expected to save the company about $11 million. This is in addition to the elimination of more than 30 management positions across the company last month.

“We are adjusting our workforce to remain competitive in our market and to further position FairPoint for success,” said Greg Castle, executive vice president of human resources in a statement released on the company’s website.

FairPoint has about 3,300 employees in 17 states.
