LEWISTON — Patricia “Patty” Knapp, 73, passed away March 29, at Russell Park Rehabilitation and Living Center, after a four-year battle with cancer.
She was born in Rumford, June 24, 1939, to Patrick and Cecile (Belanger) Parent. She attended Mexico schools and graduated from Mexico High School.
Patty was a stay-at-home Mom. She made all occasion cakes for a living and was well-known for these cakes. Every weekend, she had a wedding, anniversary or birthday cake to make. She was a perfectionist with her cakes and they always came out awesome. Patty also babysat some of the neighborhood kids along with some of her grandchildren.
On April 23, 1956, she married Richard Knapp, who survives of Roxbury. They shared many good years together. She loved to go camping and spending winters in Florida. She also loved to go out dancing whenever she could. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and various crafts. She never hesitated to try making something new.
She is survived by her sons, Peter (Linda) Knapp, Randy (Debbie) Knapp and Gary (Delia) Knapp; her daughters, Wendy Knapp and Nancy (Peter) LeCours; brothers, Harvey (Betty) Parent and Lionel (Susan) Parent; sister, Theresa (Francis) Bolduc; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Pricilla Sargent; and brother, Albert Parent.
Her family would like to express deep gratitude to the staff at CMMC and the Russell Park Rehabilitation and Living Center for the care that they provided during her stay at these facilities.
