PARIS — A Fryeburg man admitted Tuesday to sexually touching an infant girl and possessing child pornography.

Luke Edmunds, 23, who has no legal address, pleaded guilty in Oxford County Superior Court to possession of sexually explicit materials and unlawful sexual contact. He will serve 4½ years, plus three years of probation.

Assistant District Attorney Joseph O’Connor said Edmunds had been living in Fryeburg with his grandfather when police traced an Internet address sharing child pornography on file-sharing networks. Police subpoenaed FairPoint Communications records and found the Internet account registered to Edmunds’ grandfather.

The man said he didn’t know how to use a computer, but that his grandson, Luke Edmunds, did.

Edmunds initially claimed someone had sent him those files, but eventually admitted to downloading them. Police confiscated his computer to scan for forensic evidence.

During the investigation, Maine State Police investigator Frank Stepnick was told that Edmunds may have sexually touched an infant girl while changing her diaper. He was charged with Class A unlawful sexual contact, Class B unlawful sexual contact and Class C possession of sexually explicit materials. The first unlawful sexual contact charge was dismissed.

Edmunds was sentenced to 4½ years for the sexually explicit materials charge, and eight years, all suspended, for the sexual touching charge, plus three years of probation. He is forbidden from contact with children under 16 years.

Edmunds is to receive sex offender counseling and won’t be allowed to use computers.
