HARRISON — A woman suffered second-degree burns to her face in a fire that destroyed a home belonging to Steve Fogg, Sunday afternoon.

According to Harrison fire Chief Dana LaPlante, the fire broke out in the kitchen and by the time crews arrived around 2:30 p.m., the house was fully involved.

Crews from Harrison, Paris, Waterford, Norway, Otisfield, Naples and Bridgton responded to the log cabin fire.

LaPlante said Fogg’s girlfriend, Alison Flagg, sustained the burns to her face when she attempted to extinguish the fire before she and Fogg’s 18-year-old daughter, Linden, had to flee the structure.

Flagg was taken to Bridgton Hospital, where she remains for observation.

According to LaPlante, the fire took about 45 minuted to knock down, but the crews had to spend considerable time doing “extensive overhaul” due to the collapsed roof.

LaPlante said that crews initially had a tough time getting water, but quickly drew an ample supply from nearby Carsley Brook.

Although he said he does not have a dollar amount on the damages, the homeowner does have insurance.

A fire marshal remained on the scene as of Sunday night to determine a cause.

Immediately following the Naples Road fire, LaPlante’s crew was called out to another structure fire around 5:15 p.m. at 249 Scribner Mills Road.

According to LaPlante, homeowners Merril and Sheila Rollins had just built a sauna in their home and lit the stove to warm it up.

Just as the homeowners decided to check in on their project, they noticed a fire had broken out in the ceiling above the sauna stove.

LaPlante said crews quickly put out the fire and damage was confined to the sauna.
