Ride-in benefits Aimee Driscoll

NEWRY — A snowmobile ride-in from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 2, will benefit Second Chances Foundation, which is a fundraising and charity effort to benefit Aimee Driscoll of Auburn, who is in need of a lung transplant.

The event is being held at the Newry Grange Hall, Route 26. There will be raffles, chili, hamburgers and hot dogs.

Woodland plants talk postponed

PARIS — Mike Murphy’s lecture on woodland plants at the McLaughlin Garden and Homestead has been postponed by a week due to a stormy forecast. The talk scheduled for Feb. 27 will take place on Wednesday, March 6. The public is invited to tea at 3:30 with the lecture beginning at 4 p.m.

Brian Tibbetts benefit supper

HEBRON — A benefit supper for Brian Tibbetts will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, March 8, in the Hebron Academy dining room.

Menu will be spaghetti and lasagna dinner. There will be a 50/50 drawing and Chinese auction.

VFW plans dance March 9

HARRISON — The Ronald St. John VFW Post on the Waterford Road will hold a BYOB dance from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, March 9, at the post. Admission is $10 per person for 21 and over.

Fire Dept. Auxiliary supper

NORWAY — The Paris Fire Department Auxiliary will hold a public supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Paris Fire Department, Western Avenue.

Menu will be corned beef and cabbage, ham, mashed potatoes, veggies, macaroni and cheese, salads and homemade desserts.

There will be a 50/50 raffle as well as raffles for a fresh veggie basket and a free meal for the next public supper.

Cost is $8 for adults, $4 ages 4-12, free for age 3 and under. All proceeds will benefit the Paris Fire Department Auxiliary and fire personnel.

CPR, first aid class is March 9

OXFORD — An American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and First Aid class will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Oxford Public Safety Building.

On completion of the one-day class, a certificate will be issued that is good for two years. This certificate is accepted for day/child care providers, loggers, guides, teachers and other non-healthcare related professions.

Future scheduled classes will be April 20, May 4 and June 8. Call to confirm dates. Groups may also request to schedule a class at their convenience.

Swingin’ Bears square dance

PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club announces that from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 9, Don Bachelder of Bernardson, Mass., will be calling Mainstream and Plus level dancing and Carol Arsenault of Dresden will be cueing the rounds.

The dance will be held as usual in the cafeteria at the Oxford Hills Middle School, 100 Pine St.

Refreshments are always served at intermission with door prizes and a Pot O’ Gold drawing. Admission is $6 per person; non-dancers are welcome at no charge.

Custodians Chinese Auction

PARIS — The SAD 17 Head Custodians Chinese Auction will take place Saturday, March 9, in the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School cafeteria. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the auction starts at 1 p.m. Proceeds are for scholarships the organization awards to Oxford Hills students continuing their education beyond high school.

There are hundreds of items to win including 50 gallons of Dead River oil, cases of Poland Spring water, an L.L. Bean Wildlife fire pit, a vacuum cleaner, handmade quilts, pies, tools, clothing, a brand new bathroom sink, electric stepping machine, plus gift cards to many area businesses including ABC Rubbish, Quality Boot, Smedbergs, Walmart, Hannaford, Reny’s and more.
